Wow. time to pack up and leave already.. we moved a bunch of stuff over to second camper "Sydney". and still have a bunch of stuff to move over last minute. she is filling up fast. glad we took a bunch of down with us when we went to florida mid august with the u haul.. plan on leaving oct 13, go as far as river falls and meet up with brad and his family for one day. then go south where is hopefully be warmer. last week and a half has been chilly and windy with some rain. got most of the garden cleaned out. just need to till it under for the winter. it ended up producing well. canning count (mostly quarts) is 7 rhubarb, 12 strawberry/rhubarb jam, 12 salsa, 6 chili, 14 pizza 3 stewed tomatoes, 3 tomato juice, 10 frozen corn, 2 qts refrigerator pickles, 5 pints green beans. along with at least 20 # of potato on the last dig and around 15 # onions and one head purple cabbage to take with. . not bad including all the stuff we ate all summer long. lots of work but i love the benefits in the winter. except for strawberries all came out of the garden. we spent a few days at the cabin and had val and ken join us for a night. also, went to a wedding in minong and saw a bunch of folks we havent seen for a bit. stopped at our old neighbors the Ruuds in minong and caught them home. great catching up. also went for a bike ride on the Old Abe trail in cornell with some hayward hospital friends. great day with them also. also spent a day with the rykal sister in laws while the guys golfed and had a fabulous day. sister in law donna had a 70th birthday party in cadott and saw yet again more old friends we havent seen in awhile. been a busy 7 weeks. also went to florida with the u haul and dropped a load of stuff off at the house. starting to look more like home. weather in august in florida. very hot and very very humid. uff da. as of right this moment Hurricane Ian is hitting florida gulf coast. hitting Port Charlotte area where friend gail has a winter home..predicted to be really bad. initial projections were to hit north of tampa but the angle changed.. whew! missed the bulls eye there. have not done much bike riding this year. always seem busy doing something else. looking forward to meeting up with beth/todd, jan/phil, jo/dave and gail/scott for the month of november in Gulf shores alabama.

Crazy how fast the summer is going. for the most part is has been hot and a bit dry. garden is producing but slowly. and not as prolific as other yrs. critters have been having a feast out there too. peas were eaten repeatedly by something. same something is now dining on tomatoes daily and the potato bugs and japenese beetles have been eating a lot of leaves. i had great looking squash plants but something killed the vines and now just a few squash are hanging from nearly dead vines. disappointing....corn looks great. i tried something new this yr and canned my rhubarb.. trying to save freezer space. my strawberry/rhubarb jam/syrup is done and freezer corn has been completed. just tomato stuff to process yet. will probably have to buy tomatoes again. Friends from florida Fred and Sharon stopped for a visit on their trip around the upper USA. good to see them. Friends from hayward Mary and Karri came down for a day and we kayaked, had lunch at the Sandbar and kayaked back. Kevin and girls were here over the 4th for a couple of days. all visits were great!
We bought a second camper in late june, because u know, everyone needs 2 campers and a house!. named her sydney and she is a lovely 2012 and in great shape. going to leave the big camper in chippewa year round, travel with sydney and live in home in florida. our friend laurie will use the camper for her winter visit. now have to have 3 of everything! sorry boys! you'll have a lot to clean out after we are gone! took one trip to cabin for a 3 night visit over my birthday. managed to get to a few casinos.
had to cancel our trip to canada to see laurie. different medical issues with family members that needed to be dealt with. hopefully, summer will slow down a bit so i can enjoy a bit more bike riding and kayaking. everyday just seems so busy.

been back in chippewa for over a month already. got my garden planted and replanted and replanted. the beans froze while we were in montanna. glad i didn't put in my tomato and pepper plants before leaving. lots of seeds just didn't come up. finally feeling like i am caught up around the campground. brett the owner redid the bathrooms this spring and that was a bit of a mess getting them ready to go. hopefully they will be easier to keep up. havent been bike riding too much. the wind this spring has been somewhat gusty. a lot.... and a fair amount of rain. the tree between us and neighbors dean and mary came down the other night in the storm. well, at least half of it did. fortunately, no damage to any campers.
we went to erics in montanna for Wades high school graduation. proud of that kid. he received $14 thousand in scholarships and received 1st place at state tournaments for shotput and discus. got to meet our new great grandson Kolsyn. what a cutie! helped eric do some renovation and cleaning on the trailer he bought for breanna to rent from him. stayed busy the whole week we were out there. our flight on the way home was cancelled from dallas to minneapolis so we had to do some rebooking and stayed there an extra day. it was cold for the most part while we were there.

And we are home! got here april 28th and got into our spot pretty easily for a change. Glad to be here.
we were only on the road to get back from florida for 8 days but it seemed a lot longer. We stayed at the house in Inverness for 19 days and got a feel for the place. bought a number of things that we thought we needed as soon as we got back in the fall. met our neighbors across the street Ray and Rita. very very nice people and i am glad to have them as neighbors. got to know the new neighbors next door when they got there but within 3 weeks of being there they have put up their place for sale. they can not tolerate the manager Lori. she will be a challenge. the writing is on the wall there. found out who the park gossip is and the park snitch so with that being said we now know all the important park details.
On our way home we stopped in Tupelo for 2 nights and visited Elvis's birthplace. made for an interesting stop.gas was soooo expensive on the way back. cost over a $1000 to drive back. lowest price $4.69 and most expensive $5.39. crazy. we hit good weather and minimal wind all the way home tho and that was wonderful. first night we just stayed in Perry Fl at a walmart for the night. we had to get a new battery for the camper and while changing that out some guy came along, visited briefly and then wanted to know if we carried a gun! WTF. for the rest of the way home we stayed in campgrounds i didn't care if it cost more. 2nd night we stayed at a campground we have stayed in previously. Montgomery South RV in Hope Hull Al. $48 a night and 3rd/4th night in Tupelo ms at Over Younder Rv #15 (horrible site) $50 a night. Tv ok no internet. overall, not a great campground. place was landscaped with large rocks. hard to walk on and hard to drive on. would not stay there again. Onto Mt Vernon Ill. Archway Rv Park. $40. no tv but the best wifi we have ever had. Then onto Rockford Ill at an out of the way place called Blackhawk Rv. Passport America at $25 a night. beautiful park! then we landed on kevins doorstep for a couple of nights while we had some camper repairs done. 2 new refrigerators replaced. slides realigned. now have to replace the pantry shelfs. some of the roads were quite rough on the way home.
since being home we have been busy. went and got my car from cindi's and i now need a new battery in that too. cindi, karen and myself did some house cleaning for mom and then we all went for pedicures and lunch at red lobster for mothers day. the neighbor behind us had a retirement party one evening and then the next day was the kentucky derby party held at another neighbors house.friend wanda was here for a visit and a walk. got half the garden planted and of course working a bit at the campground here.
