Oct. 8th 2018

And just like that the summer season is over! Where did the time go? We have been busy cleaning up, packing up and getting in last visits with family and friends. We leave Friday the 12th for Kevins for a week and then onto Madison with Ed and Pat Lenard for the Badger game. It has been very cool and rainy for the last 2 weeks. Campground has emptied out and many of the seasonal's winterized and left last weekend. We had a end of season pot luck on Saturday and had tons of food. Lots of laughter and fun.  We pretty much have everything ready to go when we leave. After leaving Madison we go to Nashville for  a  week and are staying at Two Rivers campground. Looking forward to it. Then onto Gulf Shores for the month of Nov..Cindi, Mom and I went to Northern Liberty Iowa to visit cindi's new grand daughter. Long drive but fun. I left my car at her house for the winter. I cleaned mom's house for her at the end of sept.. Took a few bike rides on my new bike. Rides well! Looking forward to putting on some serious miles in Gulf Shores.
End of season pot luck. No chance of running out of food!

Sept 10 2018

Only 1 month till we hit the road again. I have been busy trying to get some general camper upkeep done. I  re chalked the roof in spots this week and retaped some edges. I need to wash and uv protect the roof sometime this week. Then wash the camper. I also lubed the slide tracks and put a silicone protectant on the rubber seals. There is a lot more upkeep to camper life than I anticipated.
Yesterday was mom's 87th birthday, so cindi and I went to lunch with her at Connell's. An old time supper club. Food was ok, but not all that great for its reputation.
The Asian beetles are making their appearance already, which makes me think it will be an early winter. Ughh for those left to deal with it in Wi.
We stopped and visited with old friends Jon and Debby Anderson last week. Hope to see them again before we leave.
Tom and his brothers did their golf outing the last weekend in aug and the sister in laws and I went walking in Irvine Park then out for ice cream. An awful storm blew up and we got a ton of damage in the park but fortunately not at our campsite. I had left the awnings out while we were gone but no damage. yea!
I went up to  Gordon to gather with friends from the hospital for the day, then on the way back to Chippewa to say goodbye to an old friend from Minong. Hoppy Wetzel. He died suddenly after shoulder surgery from an aneurysm. The memorial at the fire hall was incredible. Hundreds and hundreds of friends and family came to honor him. Many many  people were wearing bib overalls, hoppy's signature outfit. I saw many many old friends there that I had not seen since leaving minong.

What a fun couple of weeks! We met Joel, Karen, Randy and Debbie at Leinie's Lodge for a evening of beer and music then went to Fill Inn for fish and Pizza one night. Then the next day friends Bob and Shirley Ericson stopped in for a visit enroute to a family wedding, then joel and Karen had us over to supper for Zucchini lasagna. tom actually ate it with out too much complaining. it was delicious! then the same night we were invited over to Cheryl and Kevins for a campfire. Newly met folks that are going to be at the campground for a couple of months. Earlier in the week we had been invited over to Laurie and Mike Browns for a evening of beer and playing vinyl records. Peggy and her sister Mary were there also. Good time. On sunday last week Hazel and Dean Poppe had us over for dinner. Another good time! Monday we had to cook for ourselves. :( . We had mom and Joel and Karen over one night for Chow Mein. Then Val and Ken surprised us by coming on tues this week for a couple of nights camping, eating, shopping, golfing and wine were enjoyed. Phils dad died so he has left us in charge for the weekend while he goes to the funeral. Tom is handling most of it. It is forcing us to stay home and close to camp! good thing, I am exhausted!  We are having the Rykal brothers and wives over on sunday for golfing and dinner. Still trying to decide what us women should do for the day. August is winding down quickly, by September we are going to have to start thinking about cleaning up, packing up and putting the summer stuff away. I got new glasses from sears optical last week, and now I hear the eau Claire store is closing. grrrrr!.

August 8 2018

Just returned from our Rykal Retreat weekend held at Kevin and Aprill's. FUN, FUN FUN!! Everyone but Braden was there, so it was a busy household. Cindi and Mom came down on Saturday and spent the afternoon. They were going to spend the night but Kevin's dog Rascal and Cindi's Chewy did not hit it off and there was some snapping and growling going on so they left after supper. We all just hung out Thurs when everyone arrived then went to a Brewer game on Friday with tailgating. On sunday some went to the trampoline park and some took a drive over to Lambeau field. Heather lost her phone there and someone was nice enough to turn it in so she was able to get it back. Whew! very lucky as it was a new phone. Monday Eric and Breanna headed in her car to Brads in Crozet. She is going to live there while going to school. Heather and boys headed to Boulder and the rest of us hung out the guys, Mallory and Payton went golfing and Kendall, Brett and I went out to lunch and then the park for awhile and played a rousing game of War. Tues. Brads headed out at 0300 to catch a plane and we left at 0830. In between we ate a lot! Those boys require regular feedings!! A busy laugh filled weekend! Everyone is home safely and that is always a good thing.
Back at the park things are same old same old. So far we have put in 171 hours between the both of us since arriving. Tom is doing more. The garden is producing pretty well but the beans are slowing down but tomatoes and corn are picking up. I had a dental and eye appointments, Teeth perfect! Need a new set of glasses which I kinda new. Supposedly, my eyes have improved overall.

July 23rd 2018
We are back from our Canadian vacation with our favorite Canadian friends John and Laurie Tamas. They were such wonderful hosts and we all had such a good time. Laurie made sure to order the best weather possible and it proved delightful! The lake water was a perfect temp and I sure enjoyed the water! The trip up and back was uneventful (which I have come to really appreciate!) the drive was very scenic and overall the best Canadian trip I have had. Todd and Beth Ehlenfeldt joined us and we had so much fun together. Laughter is the best medicine after all!!
The garden is starting to produce well and I love going out and picking our supper. The campground survived without us being worker bees. Phil had plenty of volunteers to pick up our slack. It was a nice break for us. Mom has been over a few times for supper. So glad she can still drive. It makes things so much more convenient for all of us. Kevin and the girls came for a few days over the 4th of July. We swam, went to Irvine park, lite off fireworks, went for icecream for lunch and just hung out. sooo fun!
Garden goodness!!!
